DSV Road depots in Purfleet and Tamworth handled over 10 million kg of freight in September each – the first time the company has achieved such volumes– and the Tamworth site matched the landmark figure in October.

Furthermore DSV’s UK domestic network handled over 60,000 consignments for both September and October, again the highest levels on record at the firm.

Nick Trencher, divisional general manager for DSV UK Domestic, said: “Volumes on our UK Domestic service are growing rapidly. We have had particular success with customers in the home improvement sector, automotive aftermarket sector and disposable healthcare products.

“Imports from continental Europe has also increased after the summer, as there is an ever-growing demand for products from the EU,” he said, adding that despite the volume increases its OTIF (On Time In Full distribution performance measurement) had risen to 98.2%.

In September DSV increased the frequency of its groupage services from the UK to Europe, in response to what it described as increased export frequency after the pound weakened against the Euro in the wake of the EU referendum in June.

From its main UK hubs, DSV now operates daily groupage services to Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Ukraine.

Jesper Hansen, MD for DSV Road, said at the time: “Despite the uncertainty of this first half of 2016, our customers are rising to the challenge and seizing the opportunities that the devalued pound presents.”
