Ceva Logistics has won a three-year extension to its distribution contract with Hovis.

The extension to the original contract, which was sealed with the breadmaking giant in 2013, sees Ceva provide dedicated vehicles and drivers and cross-dock warehousing from its Mendlesham, Suffolk, facility.

Under the renewed deal, Ceva will check Hovis’ products at its Mendlesham depot and cross-dock them onto nine radial routes for delivery across East Anglia.

Ceva will also manage a fleet of vehicles dedicated to the contract and provide warehouse and administration staff, and Category C drivers. It said it will use telematics to minimise administration, speed up the delivery process and reduce the supply chain’s environmental footprint.

Michael O’Donoghue, Ceva’s UK, Ireland and Nordics executive vice president, said: “We are pleased to have been entrusted with the Hovis business for an additional three years.

“It’s good to see that our drive for operational excellence for the last three years has been rewarded with a new contract of the same length and that such a respected household name trusts Ceva to deliver on its behalf.”
