Hire firm Fraikin is now offering full-service contract hire packages for dual-fuel LPG/petrol vans through its partnership with engine conversion firm Alternatech.

It will be supplying converted 1-litre Ford Transit Courier vans to both its public sector and private fleet customers, which have been put through their paces via tests carried out at TNO in The Netherlands.

Alternatech said tests demonstrated a 12.9% reduction in CO2 versus a purely petrol-powered counterpart, and 52.6% less NOX– a key area of concern for air quality officials in city centres.

Will Putter, commercial director at Alternatech, added: “We’re delighted with the test results for our conversion work – it’s proof that we’ve delivered vehicles that have a reduced impact on climate change and air quality, and with a low total cost of ownership.

“By working with Fraikin, we can ensure as many fleets as possible have access to better vehicles, better operating costs and better environmental outcomes,” he added.

Colin Melvin, sales director at Fraikin, said the dual-fuel vans on full-service contract hire provided “the best of all worlds for van customers” including maintenance, lower operating costs and less environmental impact.

Fraikin is also able to provide a complete fuelling infrastructure at a customer’s depot if required.

The rental firm is currently providing a dual-fuel Ford Transit Courier demonstrator for customers to test out on their fleets.
