Knights of Old has won a two year distribution contract with packaging provider Povoas Packaging. The deal will see Knights of Old deliver products from Midlands-based Povoas to businesses across the whole of the UK, spanning “from Scotland to Cornwall”. Knights of Old has acquired Chichester-based A.E. Parker Warehousing and Distribution in a deal that creates a haulier with 500 staff, 200 trucks, 225 trailers and 300,000ft² of warehousing.
Knights of Old has said it expects to “reap the benefits of larger economies of scale”, after a full year of trading incorporating its 2013 acquisition of AE Parker saw pre-tax profit and turnover rise.
Total commercial vehicle registrations fell during 2012, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), with Volvo faring the worst across the twelve month period. Registrations from January to December were down 5.9% across truck and vans, with the decline directly attributable to lower light commercial vehicle sales.
