DPD’s Predict delivery service has won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. The award was given to Predict because of its role in what was described as DPD’s recent transformation and “dramatic” growth over the last five years, as well as the quality of the service itself. B2C parcel giant DPD says it is enhancing its green credentials by providing carbon neutral shipping from its five major European markets at no extra cost to the customer. The European Commission (EC) said the aborted UPS and TNT merger would have increased prices and would not have been challenged enough by other carriers. The regulator officially blocked the merger from taking place on 30 January, claiming it would have restricted competition for express delivery between European countries in 15 nations.
