Transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin MP has opened a biomethane refuelling station at UPS’s Tamworth hub. The station will supply fuel to the parcel carrier’s 20 dual fuel trucks, which run on a mixture of biomethane and diesel. The vehicles are used for overnight trunking and UPS claims it has seen a 40% reduction in carbon emissions compared to its other vehicles. Unite has ruled out any further strike action at UPS’s London depot for the remainder of the year.
Tevva Motors has received a £10m funding injection from India’s Bharat Forge, which it said will boost its global expansion plans and create further jobs at its Chemlsford, Essex plant.
Unite says it is currently considering its course of action after talks with UPS earlier this week were unsuccessful.
