City Link is to offer a two-hour window for B2C deliveries in a bid to increase its first time delivery rate and boost service levels. The parcel carrier, which was bought by turnaround investment firm Better Capital last year, will provide consumers with an estimated two-hour slot for delivery, and the option of rearranging it if they’re elsewhere. UK Mail has said that it saw a 6% increase in turnover in the first quarter of the year, with a strong performance across its parcels and mail divisions as well as an increase in its UK Pallets division.
Some 350 former City Link staff have signed up to bring a group employment action claim against the collapsed parcel carrier.
City Link narrowed its losses by 54% in 2012, but a reduction in volumes from higher margin B2B customers meant that its performance was behind the expectations of parent company Rentokil Initial.
