Wincanton has won a three-year extension to its transport management contract with WHSmith. The extension covers Wincanton’s work for the retailer’s hubs in Swindon, Dunstable and Birmingham, as well as its partners in the South West, North West and Scotland. Wincanton’s group HSQ director, Dean Clamp, is to join the board of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT UK).
Wincanton will be back in the black this financial year as the group’s extensive restructuring and disposals programme bears fruit. Wincanton chief executive Eric Born tells MT: “When [we] started this programme we said it would take two years to arrest the decline. We are bang on track.
