Wincanton has won a three-year extension to its transport management contract with WHSmith. The extension covers Wincanton’s work for the retailer’s hubs in Swindon, Dunstable and Birmingham, as well as its partners in the South West, North West and Scotland. DHL Supply Chain has strengthened its 25 year relationship with Mothercare by winning an extension to its contract.
Wincanton has reversed heavy losses and is “back on track” – despite a 9.6% fall in turnover – after a turbulent two years that saw it sell its loss-making European activities and exit a poor performing market in the UK.
Wincanton revealed in a trading statement today that the plummeting cost of fuel has had “no material impact” on its bottom line, adding that the business continued to trade in line with expectations.
