Norbert Dentressangle (ND) has sealed a £100m logistics deal with online fashion giant ASOS, taking the three-year contract from incumbent Unipart Logistics.

The operation will see ND managing the retailer’s 1.1 million square foot global DC in Barnsley, West Yorkshire, which handles more than 60,000 product lines shipped to customers in 241 different countries.

ASOS has also submitted plans to extend the e-fulfilment centre – currently the size of six football pitches – by a further 25%, which it says will double the site’s storage capacity.

Under the new contract, all 1,200 staff employed by ASOS’s former service provider, Unipart Logistics, were offered the opportunity to transfer to Norbert Dentressangle.

Martin Palmer, ND business development director, said: “We have a proven track record in taking on and improving complex, high-volume e-fulfilment operations and look forward to working with ASOS to introduce new strategies and solutions to support continued volume growth and geographical expansion.

“Our experience in successful major TUPE transfers also comes into play and we have worked closely with all parties to ensure a smooth transition, both for ASOS and those working on the contract.”
