Subcontractors for failed intermodal container haulier Catalyst Road and Rail Services have been handed a lifeline after Deben Transport stepped in to take on some of the work. Failed container haulier Deben Transport owed unsecured creditors close to £2.4m when it was placed into administration on 13 April, as well as more than £1.4m to HMRC.
The collapse of Deben Transport highlights the urgent need to address the poor rates plaguing the container haulage market, the boss of Pentalver has said.
Deben Transport was unable to save itself despite taking cost-cutting measures leaving it with no choice but to cease trading, as revealed by Motortransport.co.uk on Monday, its administrator has said.
