North-east haulier Ascendex has joined independent parcel delivery network The APC, marking a major milestone for the newly-formed business, as it launches overnight parcel services for SMEs across the region.

Established in December 2024, Ascendex recently took over the DH, NE and SR postcodes. The company said the move reflects the growing demand for next-day parcel delivery in the North East and Ascendex’s drive to grow its SME customer base and services.

John Thompson, Ascendex director, said: “Joining The APC is an exciting step for us and one that we’ve been working towards for some time. We are proud to be offering local SMEs access to reliable overnight service.

“Backed by the strength of The APC network and our experienced team, we can provide a more comprehensive service that not only meets the needs of today’s businesses but also helps them to grow and reach new customers across the country.

“For us, this is about building long-term partnerships and supporting the region’s SMEs with the flexible and reliable logistics they deserve.”

Ascendex has further expanded its team with five new members to support its growth, including a general manager to oversee depot operations, and new customer service and warehouse operations roles.

Dervla Gallagher, The APC network director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ascendex Limited to The APC network. John and his team bring experience, ambition and a clear focus on customer service, making them a valuable addition to our nationwide network.

“Their dedication to providing SMEs with flexible, tailored solutions reflects the very best of The APC, and we look forward to supporting their journey.”

Looking ahead, Ascendex is focused on further strengthening its operations. The business is currently investing in new systems, including CRM tools and external HR support, to improve efficiency and deliver enhanced customer service.

Ascendex also plans to move to larger premises next year to expand capacity and strengthen services for local SMEs. The company said that with more than 50% of its geography still untapped, it sees significant opportunities for regional growth in the years ahead.
