APC Overnight has unveiled its multi-million pound parcel sortation system at its Cannock, Staffordshire hub, which doubles the company’s overnight capacity ahead of the peak.
Two independent sky sorters (pictured) have been installed above APC’s existing sorter. The new system will enable the firm to process an additional 15,000 to 20,000 parcels per hour.
CEO Karl Brown said: “The launch of our new sortation system opens up huge potential for us to significantly increase our overnight capabilities. By making such a significant investment in an innovative new system, we have prepared suitably for what promises to be one of the busiest periods in our company’s history.”
The sorters form part of a £6m investment in increasing its capacity before Christmas. It has also acquired an additional plot of land adjacent to the hub for truck and trailer parking.
