Halfords has become the latest retailer to sign up to the DPD PickUp scheme. Selected Halfords stores will be branded with the DPD PickUp logo (pictured). When DPD’s new collection strategy launches in June, customers will have the option of having parcels delivered to a selection of Halfords stores across the UK as an alternative to home delivery.
Rowlands and Numark Pharmacists will also act as collection points in the network, which was originally announced in January, although DPD hopes to sign up more in the weeks leading up DPD PickUp’s launch.
Eventually, the GeoPost subsidiary hopes to build a network of 2,500 parcel shops across the UK that customers can choose to have their parcels delivered to, with one located within 10 minutes of “most people.”
Consumers will also be able to divert packages to the collection points during the delivery process if they’re not going to be at home at the specified delivery time.
Dwain McDonald, CEO DPD, said: "Halfords is a fantastic addition to our new network and I am delighted to welcome them on board.
“They are a trusted high street brand with a great reputation for customer service and helping people. Their stores are in prominent locations with customer parking which is ideal for people wanting to pick up parcels.”
