Unite members at Gist have been advised to accept a proposed increase in paid holiday after the two parties reached an agreement, avoiding a strike which was scheduled for 30 August.
The company’s proposal was agreed on at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) before the scheduled strike, which was cancelled to allow union members to vote on whether they wanted to accept the proposed increase in annual holiday days from an average of 20 to 26.
A spokesman for Unite said: “We are very pleased as this is a significant improvement, which we believe is deserved. Our members give extra on a daily basis, and should not lose out when they take a well earned break.”
Gist was unavailable for comment.
