Ferguson Transport (Spean Bridge) has acquired BSW Timber’s former sawmill site near Fort William as part of the company’s expansion plans.
The 18 acre former sawmill site near Fort William, which includes offices, 160,000ft² of warehousing, large hardstanding and a weighbridge, will become a logistics hub for the company, which trades as Ferguson Transport & Shipping.
Alasdair Ferguson, group MD, said the purchase will allow further growth at the company which has seen its workforce double in the past few years.
He added: “We will also look for other possible partners in due course, for example, in manufacturing to fully utilise the space we have available and where we can offer full logistical support".
Howard Jones, group finance director of BSW said: “I am delighted that our Kilmallie site has been sold to a local Scottish company that is expanding their operations and hence employment in the West Highlands. Ferguson Transport & Shipping are a strategic partner of BSW Timber and this transaction further cements that relationship. I am sure that they will make as good use of the site as we have in the past.”
The family run company operates a fleet of 70 trucks and over 170 trailers, specialising in distributing forestry, aquaculture, general haulage, fertiliser, agriculture, chemicals, oil, gas and energy related products.
