Expect Distribution has launched a two-man delivery service following demand from e-retailers to transport larger, bulkier items.
The new service will cover every single UK postcode on a weekly basis, and the West Yorkshire-based company aims to break into some niche market sectors.
Neil Rushworth, operations director, says: "The growth of e-retail is huge and we have found that companies now have specific transport requirements which can be business to business, site delivery or residential delivery. They demand a fast, efficient service of larger products that a traditional driver only service cannot physically manage."
The logistics firm has invested in a brand-new fleet of black and red-liveried vehicles to differentiate the two-man service from Expect’s traditional dark blue LGVs that work on palletised deliveries.
Expect has also hired 10 new staff, taking the company’s workforce up to 185.
The company changed its name from Pennine Parcels in 2006 - and was Haulier of the Year at the 2007 Motor Transport Awards.
