Yorkshire-based waste management provider Universal Tankers has opened a new operational depot in Avonmouth, Bristol, this week, as part of its strategy to double revenue within the next three to five years.

Announcing the launch, the company said the facility will allow it to increase its presence in parts of southern Wales, increase Universal Tankers’ operational capacity across the South West, and extend the company’s service reach into previously underserved markets.

The strategic location has been chosen to allow faster response times, boost logistical efficiency and strengthen the company’s ability to meet the evolving needs of its regional customer base.

Universal Tankers said it will recruit staff locally, creating employment opportunities and supporting the regional economy.

The company added that its approach reflects its broader commitment to being a responsible, community-focused employer, investing in local talent and offering long-term career prospects for people in the area.

The Avonmouth opening forms part of the company’s ambitious expansion programme. It added that it is laying the foundations for sustained growth across new and existing markets, aided by its strategy focused on geographic reach, operational excellence and customer service.

Craig Pennington, Universal Tankers head of transport, said: “This new depot is a defining moment for Universal Tankers.

“Avonmouth gives us a platform to serve businesses across the South West and into southern Wales for the first time, while strengthening the consistency and quality of service we offer our established customers. It is a clear signal of our growth ambitions and our confidence in the region.”
