Evri said it was relying on 100% renewable energy across all its operations as it strives towards becoming the UK’s most sustainable delivery firm.
The company has published its first environmental, social and governance (ESG) report covering key achievements and performance data which showed that it was creating zero emissions final mile delivery solutions for retail clients and was investing in both bio-fuel and electric fleet vehicles. It aims to be net zero by 2035 for direct and indirect emissions.
Fash Sawyerr, chief transformation officer, said: “As a responsible carrier, we recognise our impact on the environment and we are pushing sustainability and ethics to the forefront of our operating model.
“We are committed to delivering a better future for the planet, including our people, our customers and retail partners, and wider communities.”
Evri, formerly Hermes, has also appointed a chief product officer as part of its investment in product development and digital innovation.
Joe Tarragano brings with him over 25 years of digital experience at companies such as eBay, Dun & Bradstreet and Thomson Reuters. Most recently, he led customer product activity at GSK.
Tarragano said: “Evri has experienced tremendous growth and is hugely successful for its stakeholders, demonstrating real innovation.
“Its scale and its importance to the way we all now shop means it has a huge impact on consumers and this also comes with an important environmental responsibility.”
