Drivers at Eddie Stobart’s Doncaster DC have voted for strike action, in response to the operator's announcement last week that it would be making them redundant.
Unite says more than 150 drivers, from a total of 183, voted for strike action at the site that was previously part of Tesco’s distribution network.
Harriet Eisner, Unite regional office, said: "Unite is still in talks with Eddie Stobart, but the management remains intransigent that it wants to get rid of the drivers.
"Unite will be mobilising support in the Doncaster community to spearhead the campaign to save jobs."
The affected staff transferred under Tupe from Tesco on 5 August. Eddie Stobart want to remove the transport function from the DC and make use of its national network to move the goods.
It stated last week that "this reorganisation of operations is necessary to achieve a cost-effective, efficient and sustainable solution while still delivering an excellent standard of service".
