Asda is installing six bio-LNG distribution stations to refuel trucks on its sites, marking a significant acceleration in the development of its UK biomethane activity.
The stations will refuel both Asda trucks and those of some partners and will support the 202 Volvo FH LNG tractor unit order announced before Christmas.
In addition, the retail group said it will commission more than 300 new natural gas trucks this year to reduce its environmental footprint.

Gas technology firm Air Liquide will install the stations and will be operational by the first quarter of 2021.
Air Liquide said its current biomethane production capacity in the UK amounts to 650 GWh per year, enough to supply 1,000 trucks.
