Yodel is grafting hard to ensure gifts for Father’s Day arrive on time this year, with research suggesting the rise in online purchases remains higher than ever.

The parcel carrier said feedback from customers revealed 18% had bought their dad a gift in the last week, compared with 7% in 2020.

Personalised products top the list, accounting for 34% of presents, followed by food and drink (32%).

Mike Hancox, Yodel chief executive, said: “Father’s Day is obviously a sentimental time of the year for many of our customers and we pride ourselves on playing a key role in getting gifts to dads up and down the country.

Yodel partner Beer52 said the weeks leading up to the most important date in the calendar are also one of its busiest periods: “Never more so than in 2020, with a similar trend continuing again this year,” said Rob Brown, Beer52 co-founder and COO.

“Having orders delivered on time is absolutely critical for us.

“We don't want anyone to be left with that dreaded feeling of embarrassment showing up empty handed.”
