XPO Logistics has admitted it is solving challenges it never thought it would face as it adapts to the COVID-19 crisis, safeguards its workforce and continues to deliver critical supplies.
The company provides essential support to industrial, retail and institutional customers, as well as government agencies and moves goods such as medical products, PPE, food, beverages and household goods through supply chains.
It said it had been able to continue to operate nearly all of its global locations during the pandemic, with short-term shutdowns for deep cleaning as needed.
XPO is also providing crisis management to national, regional and local authorities; in Spain it is distributing masks and other protective measures and in the US it partnered with the New York City Emergency Management Department to distribute supplies to people isolated in the pandemic’s epicentre.
Meanwhile, its employees are all working remotely if able to do so and it said its workplaces are confirming to social distancing guidelines.
XPO’s drivers and contractors are also performing no-contact deliveries.
Malcolm Wilson, chief executive Europe of XPO Logistics, said: “Our foremost priority is to keep our colleagues safe while helping our customers and communities through this crisis.
“We’re solving challenges we never thought we would face, thanks to our exceptional team.”
