Whistl subsidiary Parcelhub is investing £450,000 in the rollout of a fleet of electric vehicles within its regional depot network.
The company said five Maxus eDeliver 9 vans are already operating from its Nottingham and Dinnington sites with another four in train. The company also plans to add more electric vans to its fleet across all sites as it expands its electric charging infrastructure.
The vans will be used for on-site local collections for customers who are mainly SME and mid-market online retailers and brands.
Since its acquisition by Whistl, Parcelhub has been extending its coverage and sites across the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, East London and Essex.
Parcelhub distributes more than 6 million parcels on its own carrier contracts every year and offers free free multi-carrier shipping software which allows businesses to access to pooled volume discounted rates from its carrier partners, which include Yodel, Hermes, DPD, DHL, UPS, DX, Parcelforce, CollectPlus, SkyNet, ArrowXL, Interpost, Panther Logistics, Direct Link and Palletforce.

Steve Marjoram, Parcelhub managing director said: “We understand that we have an important role in reducing our impact on the environment in the areas in which we operate. Through this investment we will not only lower our C02 emissions but also those of our customers as we all try and play our part in becoming sustainable.”
This latest move follows Whistl’s announcement last month that it had refreshed its Parcelhub brand, aimed at aligning the company more closely with the group’s image.
