Pallet-Track_Southern Hub

Pallet-Track has opened a southern hub in Hertfordshire’s Welwyn Garden City, a move it claims will save 500,000 extra miles of transport per year for shipments heading into the capital.

The pallet network, which recently welcomed several new members on board such as Massey Wilcox taking its membership to 80 hauliers, has developed the 100,000ft² hub at a former Shredded Wheat facility.

Located near the A1/M1 corridor, the hub is being operated by network member PW Gates and will allow the membership to bypass its central hub in Wolverhampton for deliveries into London.

Nigel Parkes, MD at Pallet-Track, said: “We moved 600 pallets on the first night of distribution [10 November] from Welwyn and have averaged 550 per night since then.

“It allows for increased capacity back in the Midlands at a time when the whole network is growing at a dramatic rate.”

Pallet-Track has a 267,000ft² central hub in Wolverhampton where it recently set a new network record with the processing of 10,000 pallets in a single evening in what is its tenth year of operation as a business.

Last month the pallet network revealed it had increased its internal member rates.
