The MD of Buxton-based Lomas Distribution has expressed his delight after the company secured the Winsford warehousing business of collapsed firm Seafield Logistics saving jobs in the process.

Following Abbey Logistics successful deal for much of the failed business’s bulk powder operations, Lomas Distribution secured Winsford and the palletised transport operation for its largest customer on 11 June.

Lomas also secured  a multi million pound bulk haulage contract with “one of the UK’s largest producers of bulk powders and minerals”, which the company did not name.

Richard Lomas, MD of Lomas Distribution, said:  “We are delighted to have secured such a major part of Seafield’s business and are looking forward to working with our new customers and employees, whose jobs have been safeguarded as a result.

“The acquisition marks a significant step in our continued expansion and will increase the total volume of bulk powders and aggregates transported to in excess of 4.5 million tonnes per annum.  This acquisition firmly secures our position as the largest privately owned bulk tanker and tipper fleet in the UK.”
