MT Top 100 company Seafield Logistics has been placed into administration.
In a statement Grant Thornton confirmed it had been appointed as the firm's administrator today (11 June), with David Riley, Les Ross and Joe McLean handling the process.
“Immediately following the appointment, the bulk powder transport business was sold to Abbey Logistics and the warehousing business based in Winsford was sold to Lomas Distribution.
“The two sales protect in excess of 110 jobs and provide continuity to the key customers,” Grant Thornton said in a statement.
Riley added: “The stakeholders of Seafield Logistics have experienced uncertainty for some time and the two sales provide a positive outcome.
“We are delighted that we have been able to secure in excess of 110 jobs as well as provide continuity to the customers.”
Seafield had a turnover of £41.3m for the 18-month period between 1 July 2011 and 31 December 2012, when it also posted a pre-tax loss of £362,000.
In March, Seafield revealed it had opened a new Immingham hub to store sodium carbonate imported from the US by customer Tata Chemicals Europe.
Seafield MD Mark Strong could not be reached for comment.
