Apprentices from Mercedes-Benz dealer Sparshatts

A trio of young technicians has graduated from the Mercedes-Benz apprenticeship programme.

The three technicians James Wickham, Ethan Macrae and Dan Goodwin joined the course three years ago in the hopes of becoming a technician.

Goodwin, aged 21, had spent a year at college, studying to be an electrician, before joining Sparshatts. He said: “I’d always wanted to be a vehicle technician, and was looking out for job opportunities the whole time, when I heard there were openings at Sparshatts I jumped at the chance."

At 19, Macrae is the youngest of the three. He joined the apprenticeship programme straight from school. “My Dad is a truck driver so I’ve been around commercial vehicles all my life, and this opportunity was exactly what I was looking for.”

Wickham, aged 22, was already studying to be a motor mechanic at college when he applied to do a week’s work experience at Sparshatts which led him to win an apprenticeship. “My Dad was a truck technician too, so I suppose it’s in my genes,” he said.
