Palletforce has bought another haulier with the purchase of QTR Transport near Newbury.
The pallet network said the acquisition will give it a stronger presence in West London and the Midlands, as well as increased access to the A34 and M4.
Palletforce added that ownership of the business and its depot would enable it to look into building a southern hub. QTR was part of the Palletline pallet network.
QTR Transport was founded in 1981 by Paul White, and has an O-licence authorising up to 100 trucks and 100 trailers. It is based on the New Greenham Business Park in Thatcham.
Palletforce chief executive Michael Conroy said: “Strategically, the purchase of QTR Transport is an extremely important, long-term solution for Palletforce and we’re excited by this acquisition.
“Not only does it offer financial and operational advantages, it adds significant infrastructure to complement our existing fantastic membership in the adjoining areas. Palletforce promised to continually invest in its infrastructure and network and this is another example of our pledge.”
The pallet network bought UK Freight Masters, and announced plans for a 'superhub' in Burton-on-Trent, earlier this year. Ground works are now underway.
