ACST longer semi trailer

ACS&T has added 15 15.65m refrigerated longer semi-trailers to its fleet, following a successful trial with customer McCain.

The 15 Montracon trailers take the number of trailers the food logistics specialist’s runs under the DfT trial to 18.

The trailers will be based at ACS&T’s Scarborough depot and will mainly be used to deliver McCain food products to key client DCs in Hemel Hempstead and Heywood. They will also deliver directly to retail DCs and transport goods between production sites.

The company has been running longer semi-trailers for two years as it works to help reduce carbon emissions and miles travelled for McCain.

Malcolm Johnstone, MD at ACS&T, said: “An exceptional service is at the heart of everything we do at ACS&T.  This latest investment not only demonstrates our commitment to customer service, but also our flexibility in developing bespoke solutions designed to meet our customer’s exacting distribution requirements.

“These trailers offer great cost savings – they can carry up to 30 pallets, which is four more than the standard 13.6m trailer.  This represents a 15%  increase in productivity.”
