Tesco distribution director Alex Laffey is to take over as the new chief executive of Eddie Stobart Logistics. Tesco is to close two of its distribution centres in the UK, bringing all warehouse operations carried out by DHL Supply Chain and Wincanton in-house, as part of a long-term plan to “simplify” its distribution operations.
Share prices in the industry have not changed dramatically since last week. Most have seen a small increase in value, apart from Stobart, which saw its share value remain static.
Clipper Logistics has won an e-fulfilment contract with women’s exercise clothing company Vevie, following the launch of its online sales site vevie.com. The deal will see the logistics giant handling all inbound freight from vendors and suppliers, order fulfilment and home deliveries for Vevie’s customers across the UK and globally using a network of courier partners.
