CM Downton 'sweet' on Nestlé with new contract win

CM Downton has become a part of Nestlé’s UK haulier network after signing a new contract with the food and confectionary giant. The contract will see Downton moving 10 loads a day for Nestlé between a variety of manufacturing and warehousing facilities.

These loads will include work with Cereal Partners UK, Nestlé’s joint venture with General Mill, which will see Downton collect cereal from the General Mill factory in Merseyside and warehouse in Wiltshire, and deliver it to supermarket distribution centres across the UK.

The company’s operations director John Downton said: “This contract with one of the world’s leading businesses is a great success for Downton, and one which we hope will yield further opportunities in the near future.”

Downton has already started moving bottles of Buxton water out of Sheffield and Purina pet food products from Hams Hall, and John Downton suggested more work with the brand could be in the pipeline: “There are discussions underway about taking on the handling of further product lines under the Nestlé range. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with Nestlé through 2015 and beyond.”
