A strike due to begin today by 100 dairy drivers working at Moran Logistics' Leeds depot has been called off, with an “amicable conclusion” to the dispute reached.

The drivers, who had transferred under TUPE regulations last month from Leeds-based Arla Foods to Moran Logistics, had voted in a ballot to take part in a three-day strike starting today over holiday pay and pensions issues.

Unite and GMB unions had criticised Arla for “not honouring” agreements with drivers when deciding to transfer them to Moran.

The drivers were transferred following an operational review by Arla Foods, which said the decision to outsource its Leeds logistics arm was to keep the business competitive in “a challenging period for the dairy industry”.

Rachel Dix, GMB regional officer, confirmed the decision to call off the strike: “Both parties can confirm that an amicable conclusion has been reached so that no strike action will take place.”
