City Link has ordered 85 new Lawrence David single-decker trailers in the second stage of its strategy to update 40% of its trailer fleet by the summer.
The new single deckers, which comprise 80- curtainsiders and five box-vans, follow the recent addition of 86 double-deckers onto City Link’s night trucking fleet at the start of the year, and will be used on inter-urban deliveries.
Both batches have been supplied on long-term contracts by hire firm Fraikin.
City Link has opted for full maintenance cover for the trailers, with 24/7 breakdown assistance.
The vehicles are on a 12-week maintenance cycle to ensure they remain in optimum condition, with maintenance scheduled to ensure minmium downtime: for example, the double-deckers are serviced during the daytime and the single-deck trailers enter the workshop overnight.
