DHL Supply Chain has had its contract with Boots UK extended by five years.

The operator will continue to cover national cross-docking and transport to the high street retailer’s 2,500 stores nationwide until 2018, including chilled transport.

The extended contract, which builds on a 15-year relationship, will also see DHL manage national primary distribution from Boots’ main site in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, working closely with its two chilled DCs and 14 cross-dock sites.

Boots will also share loads with other high street retailers, which DHL hopes will improve efficiency and cost.

DHL Supply Chain vice-president of home and leisure, Jon Wood, said: “Under the new agreement we’re looking forward to using our expertise to create efficiencies within the supply chain. Boots is an exciting and innovative brand, and we look forward to assisting them further as they continue to expand.”

Simon McDonald, distribution contract manager at Boots UK, said: “DHL has adopted a collaborative and value added approach with our business, and we are pleased to partner with them for the next stage of our operation as we work together to grow our business.”
