Eddie Stobart and AW Jenkinson Forest Products will add 1,500 Euro-6 Scanias to their fleets as part of a renewed joint procurement agreement. Orders will be placed throughout 2014 and 2015, including an initial order for 150 vehicles, in what the manufacturer described as its biggest Euro-6 order to date. Malcolm Group has taken delivery of its first Euro-6 Volvo FM, and placed an order for 30 more, basing its decision on the performance of its existing Euro-5 FM units.
Stobart Group has taken delivery of two Iveco Ecostralis units as part of a three-year trial. The vehicles’ performance will be monitored in upcoming months as the pair operate from its depot in Carlisle. The trucks, named Sophie and Lynda Dawn, are expecting to remain in the fleet for three years running some 160,000km a year. The UK has secured a 12 month derogation for Euro 5 trucks, enabling operators to delay registration of new Euro 5 trucks until the end of 2014. Euro 5 trucks built before 30 September 2013 will be allowed to be stockpiled and registered up until the end of 2014, though all Euro 5 trucks built from October 2013 must be registered by the end of 2013.
