More than a million pallets of medicines and pharmaceutical raw materials have already been contracted out for carriage in Yusen Logistics’ pan-European network.
The Northampton-based logistics provider is also expanding its fleet on the self-titled ‘Pharma Superhighway’ service to incorporate more double-deck, duel temperature trailers as it looks to improve load fill rates.
Yusen hubs in the UK, as well as Belgium, manage inbound and outbound shipments as well as providing consolidation and cross-docking services for onward delivery throughout the Continent.
Ian Veitch, MD at Yusen Logistics UK, said the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets were “key strategic development areas” for the firm.
He added it would be looking to “develop and refine” its services in 2013 in response to demand from its pharmaceutical customers.
“Our solutions currently range from the delivery of raw materials into the manufacturing process, to the delivery of finished drugs of all classes and equipment, to in-market distributors, hospitals, pharmacies and surgeries,” he added.
