XPO Logistics’ UK distribution operation has introduced an electronic signature capture system (pictured) that will be used to provide shippers with immediate online access to delivery confirmation.
XPO Logistics, which sprang into operation in Europe after the US firm took over Norbert Dentressangle in a deal announced in April, said the new proof-of-delivery (PoD) solution would allow customers to authorise invoices within minutes of a delivery being made.
It should also support “near-zero” invoice discrepancies.
Around 550 drivers across the firm’s UK next-day pallet network and specialist services operation are using the system via existing Windows-based handheld devices. The operation previously used traditional paper-based delivery confirmation.
Pallet network Pallet-Track has also moved to electronic customer paperwork recently alongside a new central billing system, suggesting that the switch from paper would reduce wastage and "drastically improve" the organisation’s green credentials.
