Wincanton has been awarded a new contract with manufacturing firm Taylor and revealed its new finance director.
The new contract sees Wincanton managing all of Taylor’s domestic transport.
Taylor produces four-wheeled galvanised steel containers and said the arrangement would help it widen its geographical reach as well as offer its customers more flexibility and faster delivery times.
Chris Kingshott, MD of manufacturing at Wincanton, said: “Our scale and experience in managing outsourced transport operations means that Taylor’s management can focus on their core business of manufacturing, enabling them to meet the high demand for their products and grow their business safe in the knowledge that their products and customers are being expertly cared for.”
Taylor CEO Brendan Murphy said: “Our partnership with Wincanton will enable Taylor to remain competitive, strengthen Taylor’s position throughout the UK and allow us to reallocate resource to areas of the business where we can add value.”
Wincanton today announced chartered accountant Tim Lawlor will be joining the compay as group finance director, effective 28 September 2015.
He replaces Adrian Colman who, as was announced earlier this year, will take the role of chief executive from 1 August.
Lawlor joins Wincanton from the Serco Group, where he was the director of finance and strategy.
