Wincanton is continuing its drive into the home delivery market after landing a three-year contract with Sofa Club to provide a complete supply chain and e-fulfilment service for the retailer, including its two-person home delivery service.
This is the second major home delivery contract the logistics firm has won this year, following on the heels of a deal with Wickes, announced in January, to deliver kitchen and bathroom product.
Wincanton’s partnership with Sofa Club will see the company manage the transportation of goods to and from its shared-user warehouse in Worksop, all storage processes on-site, store replenishment and nationwide home delivery.

The contract also sees Wincanton provide two-person, “white glove” home delivery. This service includes assembly of goods in each customer’s room of choice, removal of all packaging and an optional sofa recycling scheme in partnership with the British Heart Foundation.
Sofa Club customers will also benefit from an enhanced booking system which includes selection of delivery date, regular order updates and a confirmed two-hour delivery slot.
Paul Durkin, director of home and e-fulfilment at Wincanton, said: “As a business that conducts a high proportion of its sales online, getting the customer journey right to achieve customer satisfaction is a priority - Wincanton is excited to be partnering with Sofa Club to support its growth plans.”
Sofa Club MD Louis Rose said: “I have been very impressed by Wincanton’s attention to detail and feel confident that we have a shared vision of the customer journey.”
