Wincanton has secured a multi-million pound extension on its contract with B&Q, taking on management of an additional warehouse.
The firm will manage B&Q’s one million ft² showroom fulfilment centre in Burton-on-Trent, which provides warehousing for the retailer’s bathroom, bedroom and kitchen range. Under this new agreement, it is estimated that Wincanton will handle nine million cases of merchandise per year.
"We are delighted to be extending our long term relationship with B&Q, which further demonstrates our ability to support the retail sector and evolve our proposition to suit the needs of modern retailing,” said Eric Born, chief executive of Wincanton.
Earlier this year, Wincanton won a contract to handle B&Q’s container business which sees the firm move 15,000 inbound containers per year.
In April it was also made responsible for planning the retailer’s two-man customer delivery service, which handles approximately 500,000 home deliveries per year.
