The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called off the 24-hour Royal Mail and Parcelforce strike planned for Monday (4 November).
In a joint statement, the CWU and the operator said they have “made progress in talks” and have committed to coming to an agreement by 13 November.
However, the validity of the ballot for industrial action has been extended until 20 November in case the two sides can't reach an agreement.
Although the terms of the proposed agreement have not been revealed, the CWU said it will include an “improved pay and reward offer”, legal protection for employees that extend beyond the three year offer formerly proposed by Royal Mail, and “an agenda for growth”.
