Controlled temperature specialist Langdons saw a 13.7% increase in turnover as it felt the benefit of a £9m investment it its Redditch depot.
For the year ending 31 December 2011 turnover at Langdons Industries was £67.5m (2010: £59.4m), while pre-tax profit rose to £2.7m from £2.1m in the previous 12 month period.
Arran Osman, MD at Langdons, says that return on sales has “settled back to expected levels based on performance in 2009” as “profit in 2010 had been significantly reduced by a series of exceptional costs, associated with property matters”.
He adds that the growth in turnover is largely attributed to a “combination of continued development with customers from our core market alongside further progression with greater diversity”.
Langdons opened its £9m depot in Redditch in September 2011. The Studley Road site, which was purpose built, replaces the company's existing facility in Redditch and has capacity for 5,000 frozen and chilled pallets. It also has 16 loading bays allowing for increased pallet throughput.
“We have successfully increased the level of investment to meet with customer demand for unmatched quality and frequency of service and the 9m outlay on our purpose built, multi-temperature distribution and storage facility in Redditch has already proven incredibly productive,” Osman says.
