lorry bridge 1

Parts of the M1 and A14 were shut this week after a lorry collided with a barrier and was left hanging precariously over a bridge.

Leicesteshire police were called at around 4.37am on 24 April to a report of a collision involving the HGV on the M1 southbound carriageway at the Catthorpe Interchange.

The incident left part of the vehicle and the barrier resting over the edge of the carriageway over the A14.
The driver was able to safely leave his cab without injury.

However, the M1 was closed at junction 19, as well as the A14 in both directions while emergency services responded and arrangements were made to remove the vehicle.
