The Pallet Network’s (TPN) new hub at Prologis Park Midpoint in Minworth is taking shape ahead of its planned opening next year.
The new hub, next to TPN’s current home, is about 50,000ft² bigger, at 367,500ft².
TPN MD Adam Leonard said its real advantage would be significantly increased parking space, with 200 LGV spaces that will allow the use of stand trailers in the operation for the first time.
“This will improve general efficiency and help members’ margins,” he said.
The network's existing hub, which it moved to in 2010, is on a five year lease but Leonard conceded that the pace of the network's growth had taken even him by surprise, but added it was a nice problem to have.
The new hub should take TPN's daily capacity to around 11,000 pallets compared with 10,000 at present. Leonard added that the network had enjoyed a healthy Christmas performance and continues to trade well.
