Retailer The Co-operative has installed a telematics and transport management system from Microlise.
The system, which includes features such as electronic proof of delivery, driver fuel efficiency monitoring and planned-versus-actual route and schedule comparisons, will cover more than 1,300 trucks. The deal extends an existing nine-year working relationship between the two companies.
The Co-operative hopes the system will help it reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions as well as accident rates.
Jon Paul Brown, national transport manager at The Co-operative Group, said: “We needed a technology refresh and had a clear objective to realise further reduction in our environmental footprint by reducing fuel consumption further.”
The system uses Paragon routeing and scheduling with warehouse management software from Manhattan Associates.
- Fleet efficiency will be a central theme at the Microlise Transport Conference on 18 May at The Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
