Energy supplier, Ryze Power, has signed an agreement with Ricardo, the engineering, environmental and strategic consultancy service, to provide green hydrogen to its technical centre in Shoreham.
The green hydrogen will be used as part of Ricardo’s hydrogen fuel cell systems testing. The company is working to develop hydrogen and hybrid technologies to progress sustainable transport.
Ricardo’s technical facility houses a range of testing and development capabilities for alternative fuels, including hybridisation, electrification and fuel cell design and integration for fuel call electric vehicles (FCEV). Its testing programme aims to increase the range of hydrogen and fuel cell services and solutions the company offers for a variety of mobility applications, such as off-highway, light commercial, marine and aerospace.
Alex Webster, sales director at Ryze Power, said: “Ryze’s ambition is to continue to prove the case for hydrogen across a wide array of transportation types, supporting hydrogen infrastructure and alternative fuels to net zero transformation industries. Hydrogen is fast becoming a tangible option for decarbonisation and we are delighted to have signed this deal to support Ricardo. Partnerships like this one are vital to building a vibrant hydrogen economy in the UK.”
Tim Bassett, head of test from Ricardo added: “We are delighted to have signed this deal with Ryze to secure a regular supply of sustainable green hydrogen to our Shoreham facility.
“Hydrogen is a versatile energy carrier that offers huge potential to drive the transition to a future of sustainable, clean propulsion in several sectors. Having recently doubled our hydrogen test capacity for fuel cell and sustainably fuelled hydrogen combustion engines, having a reliable supplier to support our activities is crucial. This will help us to deliver key innovations based on customer requirements, as well as to continue to explore opportunities in new markets and industries.”
