Vehicle rental firm Ryder has ordered 400 new tractor units to refresh its current fleet, along with 350 new trailers.

The 6x2 tractor units are a combination of Daf, MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Iveco models. They  are joined by 200 curtain-sider trailers, 100 temperature controlled trailers and 50 box trailers.

The new vehicles keep the average age of trucks on Ryder’s rental fleet at two years.

David Hunt, VP and MD at Ryder Europe, said: “Our continuing investment in new vehicles and trailers underlines Ryder’s ongoing commitment to providing greater choice and value for our customers. This latest investment in new assets will endow Ryder with one of the largest and most comprehensive Euro-6 fleets in the country enabling our rental customers to have access to the benefits of this new technology.

“We also continue to invest in our personnel and workshops across our national network of 28 locations with all of our workshops equipped, and our staff trained, to support the specialised maintenance requirements of Euro 6 specification vehicles.”

Last year Ryder was one of more than 100 companies involved in the rental and leasing of trucks, trailers and vans to take part in Motor Transport’s CV Informer survey. This year we aim to capture every single business in the sector.

This year’s survey is now live, so for your chance to get involved email christopher.walton@roadtransport.com. Every participant will receive a report of the full research results, with a key statistics section highlighting how their business relates to the rest of the sector as a whole.
