Renault Trucks said it had taken another step in the electrification of its internal logistics in France by deploying an “electric corridor” to transport cabs, engines and axles between its sites.

A year after decarbonising the transport of axles between Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse, the OEM said it was working with haulier Malherbe to operate on a just-in-time basis and deliver the parts to assembly lines when required.

It added that this strategic logistics flow was now covered almost entirely by eHGVs, with 22 E-Tech T models being used on a ‘North loop’ between Blainville, Vironvay, Auxerre and a ‘South loop’ of Auxerre, Mâcon, Bourg-en-Bresse and Lyon.

Each electric truck travels a daily distance of 810km on the North loop and 704km on the South loop and Renault Trucks said the system made it possible to cover long distances without stopping the load.

It also said that all of the stages were designed to maximise truck usage time and to keep drivers within a close radius around their home.

Thanks to a series of relay stops to swap electric tractors, drivers and trailers, each electric truck travels a daily distance of 810km on the North loop and 704km on the South loop.
