The distinctive happy surfing polar bear adorning the sides of Reed Boardall Transport’s temperature controlled trailers had extra cause for celebration on Friday (9 March) as the company’s MD Tom Cassells was kept busy collecting accolades at the Asda Carrier of the Year awards.
A sell-out audience at Leeds’ Queens Hotel saw Reed Boardall pick up the Environmental Carrier of the Year trophy for its use of double-deck trailers and take the runners up slots in both the overall Carrier of the Year award behind PD Ports Logistics and the Outstanding Service category behind McBurney Transport.
Fowler Welch Ambient was named Primary Carrier of the Year after delivering a step change in service, while DHL Fuels took the Secondary Carrier title for an outstanding job to maintain availability despite rising demand.
Asda’s Irish Sea Carrier of the Year was DFDS Logistics, International Carrier was CMA CGM, European Carrier was ECS and UK Container Haulier of the Year was Maritime Transport.
The Distribution Service Provider of the Year award went to trailer builder Cartwrights.
The event raised £42,500 for Asda’s nominated charity Everyman, which funds research into male cancers.
