Tyre manufacturer Prometeon Tyre Group has signed a new pay-as-you-go contract with Collease Truck and Trailer Hire to provide its entire fleet with tyres.
Collease leases trucks and trailers from five sites at Manchester, Felixstowe, Southampton, Norwich and Basildon, supporting customers delivering into distribution depots across the UK.
The Collease fleet of 1,920 vehicles can clock up to 100,000kms a week and has 1,520 trailers and nearly 400 motorised vehicles, of which half are tractor units. The rest range from 26 tonne fridges to 3.5 tonne vans.
Under Prometeon’s pay-as-you-go model, tyres are replaced when required. It also comes as a full managed offer, consisting of dealer management, fleet tyre audits, and an on-line central billing portal.
Martin Drewery, Collease maintenance director, said: "We know from running a fleet for over 40 years that Prometeon’s Pirelli-branded tyres give us the price against life value that we need for our fleet. Our customers are looking for fuel efficiency, reliability and a premium tyre that is robust and hard wearing."

Prometeon are supplying tyres from their Itineris range to meet the price versus life requirement, the majority of tyres fitted are IT-T90 for trailers, with IT-S90 being fitted to the steer and IT-D90 for drive axles.
Reliable and efficient customer service was a deciding factor for Collease said Prmeteon's reliable and efficient customer service were the deciding factors.
Drewery said: "It’s been a positive move getting Prometeon on board, and a seamless transition from our previous supplier. In addition to the quality of the tyres themselves, I’ve been impressed with Prometeon’s on-line billing portal and their dedicated Call Centre team; their can do attitude has freed up additional time for us to focus on our customers, which has been a real benefit."
Commenting on the contract renewal, Wayne Bell, Prometeon national fleet manager, said he was "delighted" Collease has chosen Prometeon to supply and manage its tyres.
"I’m looking forward to working closely with Mark and his team to develop a long term relationship supporting Collease and their customers to keep their trucks running efficiently and safely," he added.
